In what ways can interactions with Kansas police lead to criminal charges?

Contrary to my advice for her to only speak to a lawyer, my daughter incurred a charge of interference because she spoke to the police. Even with the investigators testimony during my daughter's preliminary and trial that stated she was honest, fully compliant and even helpful, because she cleaned the weapon she used to defend another and secured it in out of sight location until police arrived, who she immediately complied with, she was still found guilty of that charge on the grounds of presumed intent. This case will be appealed after her sentencing January 22nd. This is in Lyon County.
