Always remember you are innocent of crimes until proven guilty. That may not be how it feels if you are contacted by Kansas police, child protective services, an investigator, etc. and accused of a sex crime. Once law enforcement seeks to speak to you may feel hopeless and afraid. That's normal. Recently, Attorney T. Morton was able to help three clients avoid arrests following a criminal investigation.
What these clients did right: 1. Openly denied the allegations; 2. Contacted an attorney; 3. Did not attempt to sway or discuss the allegations with the alleged victim(s); 4. Sought family and friends support during this difficult time; 5. Gave no further statements to law enforcement and/or anyone; and 6. Carried on with their ordinary life. There is a catch though. You will never get a letter or notice that there was no probable cause for arrest. Additionally, some arrests come many months or years later. However, when you do as these three clients did, you are protecting yourself and your potential defenses should you later be charged with a crime. Attorney T. Morton cannot promise you the same results but, she will make every effort to ensure you are fully informed and prepared for the best and worst case senario. Any allegation of a sex crime, in Kansas, is serious (even those that are misdemeanors). If you landed on this post, it is probably because you have cause for concern. Call Attorney T. Morton today (913) 602-7288 today.
