HUMAN TRAFFICKING & FBI INVESTIGATIONS

BEWARE! The FBI and Kansas local law enforcement are actively watching for potential human trafficking and sex crimes.  They are particularly interested in events involving minors online. There has been an uptick in allegations and arrests involving both. Further, charging human trafficking is more frequently being charged.

What can you do if you are under investigation or charged? ALWAYS REMAIN SILENT. Along with that here are a few common pitfalls to avoid:

(1) You should not offer or give your electronics passwords;
(2) You should not provide usernames, logins, email addresses, chatroom names, etc.;
(3) You should not allow or provide access to anything that law enforcement does not have a warrant for;
(4) You should not meet with law enforcement or give "your side of the story";
(5) You should not submit to a lie detector test; and
(6) You should not make calls where you discuss the allegations and/or your arrest, except for with an attorney.

The best thing you can do is protect yourself through silence. The next thing you should do is hire an attorney. There are life-altering, long term, consequences possible. Attorney T. Morton is available to help guide you and answer your questions. Call today (913) 602-7288.
