Across the state of Kansas, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is a required component of auto insurance policies. This insurance is exactly what the name says - insurance specifically for personal injury caused by an accident. "No fault" insurance is another name for it. With this insurance, regardless of fault, you have personal injury coverage. The PIP minimum amount, required by law, is $4,500. PIP has two components:
Medical Care Coverage. This includes the cost of treatment from hospitals, doctors, etc...It can also cover the cost of medical equipment required for treatment of your injury. Typically your policy is a minimum of $4,500 but can be up to $50,000.
Expense Reimbursement. Personal Injury Protection may also reimburse you for additional related expenses caused by the accident. This may include the need for a home cleaning service, lost wages, etc...
